Okay.... so...

I'm looking at my LJ wondering... ok, I hardly post on this thing. I hardly check it. Should I still have it? :O

I'm not going to delete it, no. But if any of you who've added me want to remove me for some reason, I don't mind. I know I've been really unactive on LJ, 'cause I'm too private to write my drivel with a friends list as audience, I think. :(

Wally, did you ever actually want to RP? ^^; I guess I kinda missed that chance (like a lot of things). But I did have to cancel Soul Collectors, at least, the first try I had at running it. I wanted a chance someday to run it with people I'm more comfortable with, so that's why I ask, but as usual... no pressure. :o

Also, I seem to be in planning to run a D&D 4e game based on a roguelike (Ancient Domains of Mystery, woo) and a Reborn Again BESM game. Yeah, BESM, WTF?! is what I'm thinking. I actually kind of think Dragon-Blooded would've worked well for RA, but the person who inspired the game specifically wanted non-Exalted rules. I don't blame her... she and I play(ed) a LOT of it already.

I'm starting to realize that BESM actually might turn a lot of people off because of the sheer amount of choice and customization you can do. I mean, I personally really dig that, but I think until you've played with the system for a while it can be really overwhelming.

On the other hand, I think it's actually less overwhelming than trying to play exalted, simply because charm trees are unintuitive and you need to read through the entire tree just to figure out if you want the ability at all, then cross reference 3 books and 5 fan supplements for charm changes and additions.

... So I guess maybe BESM isn't that bad after all. *ramble* >_>

I don't dislike BESM. It just gave me a headache to write the custom rules, because there was *so* much to consider.

Kalli is similar -- she really likes the customization, but the actual figuring it out part made her go "augh!" I don't blame her. ^^

The actual play is pretty simplistic though, everything just boils down to 2d6 rolls, more or less.

I did want to RP with you. Still do, in fact. I feel pretty bad about not joining SC after getting excited about it. ^^; (And no, I didn't feel pressured. Sorry - I never meant to give that impression!)

The problem is that right now I am having trouble committing to a regular night off, even just one every other week, that I can make sure I always have, which is what I'd really want to do for something like this. Also, I'm having trouble finding the time that I need to generate a character in the first place, especially for a new system. (Well, new to me, I mean.) I guess that my point is that I want to RP, but I'd rather not make the commitment to it right now than make it and then be unable to keep it and leave you hanging. ^^;

I don't know what's going to happen. I know that when one of my friends moves in August, my schedule is likely to lighten up at least a little. I don't know how much, though. :/

Trying to run SC the first time ended up really premature for me though, sadly. ;.;

I have actually been pondering the alternative of running Soul Collectors as a forum RPG, because I've found forum RPG to be much less anxiety inducing for me. However, I'm not sure how good you are at staying committed to those. I'd require something like a minimum 1 post day, or perhaps one post every other day, in that case.

It *would* make it a lot easier to work around an unpredictable schedule though. What do you think?

Hmm, that does sound neat... question, though. How long would you want those daily posts to be? Because I am inexperienced with this sort of thing, and when I think of "posts" I think of the old interactive fictions I tried to participate in, and often the posts were meant to be quite long and tended to take me forever, which does explain why I wasn't very good at sticking to them. If they're relatively short, a couple of paragraphs a day or so, that I could possibly handle.

Also, I was thinking about it in the past few days, and I think that it might really be best to start with something more traditional for my first game with a new system. I mean, I really like the concept of SC, and I'm still interested in playing it at some point, but it's hard to think of playing the game with so many changes when I don't even know the basics. Or am I worrying too much?

Couple of paragraphs is what I'd expect, yeah. The Exalted forum RPs I'm in are all like that. 2-3 paragraphs, now and then people will even post in 2-3 lines if it's a day they can sit and post more often.

Also, hmm. I don't *think* starting out with SC ought to be that much of a problem, but if it makes you feel comfortable, we could run a short campaign with you playing a more traditional Exalted setting/character. How does that sound? And by "short" I mean it'll probably last a couple months or so, since we'll be posting by forum and not by session. I think I can even get a couple other players in on it (people very kind to newbies!) so you can get used to playing Exalted with others, too.

If you like that, I'll get back to you soon with a game concept (unless you've got a particular part of Ex setting you'd like to explore, then I'll try and focus on that.) It IS a good idea to maybe get used to the game itself before playing with major setting changes, so I totally don't mind!

Okay, yes, it's been a while. Sorry. I've been going through some very tough times. ^^;
So I wanted to let you know I'm still interested in this, and now that I'm home a lot more often I should have time to actually commit to it. Still haven't had time to study the system that much, but I'll work on it as time permits.

Oh! It's fine, I don't mind that you took your time. Are you familiar with Roleplay Online? I may end up running Soul Collectors from this site, though I've not quite decided yet. It'll either be on RPoL or hosted on my site. Either way they're both forums ^^

As usual you can email me if you have questions, or use my poor forum or whatnot :D Oh and I'm still up to running a small game for you to start with to get familiar with Exalted. Maybe in a couple weeks? Just let me know what exalt type and/or region you'd prefer to play in and I'll try and set something up.

Also, I'm sorry you've had a rough time lately :( I have plenty of "down times" myself for various reasons and (given my typical mental state) they can take a while to recover from. So I hope it'll start getting better for you soon.
